Description:
The main attraction at the Copake Falls area of Taconic state Park is the wonderful Bash Bish Waterfall, which almost everyone calls Bish-bash. There is a drive-up, tent camping area open in spring, summer, some rustic cabins, and full-service cottages available year-round. We've tent-camped here in summer, cottage-camped here in winter, and hiked through on the Appalachian Trail, which passes through Taconic state Park. (The latter was pre-parenthood.) The wilderness area spans the New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut borders; technically Taconic State Park is only the NY portion. The park offers beautiful views, the lovely and impressive waterfall, geocaches, a variety of hiking, and some ruins of 19th-century iron works. The park is accessible from the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, which offers easy hiking and biking.
